Who We Are
Minimap Mod (minimapmod.com) is an independent guide and download hub for Xaero's Minimap and Xaero's World Map, two of the most widely used navigation mods for Minecraft: Java Edition. We are a small team of long-time Minecraft players, modpack makers, server administrators and technical writers who have spent more than a decade exploring, building and troubleshooting modded worlds.
We started this site because players kept asking the same questions: where to download the mod safely, which file matches their version, why the game crashes after installing it and how to get the most out of waypoints and cave mode. Official project pages are great for downloads, but they are not designed to teach. Our goal is to fill that gap with clear, tested, beginner-friendly guides.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: help every player explore farther and never lose their way. We want a first-time modder to go from "what is a mod loader?" to a working minimap in five minutes, and we want experienced players to find advanced tips they did not know existed.
- Explain installation for every loader and platform in plain language.
- Keep version information current, including new releases like Minecraft 26.1.
- Send every download to the developer's official release pages.
- Publish honest comparisons, including the mod's limitations.
How We Test and Review
Every build we recommend goes through the same process before we write about it:
- We install it on clean Fabric, Forge and NeoForge profiles on Windows, macOS and Linux.
- We scan the downloaded file with antivirus tools and compare its SHA-256 hash with the value on the official version page.
- We play on real survival worlds for several hours, checking waypoints, cave mode, the world map and performance.
- We test common combinations with popular mods such as Sodium, Lithium and Iris.
- We update our guides when something changes and show the "last updated" date on every article.
Editorial Standards
Our content is written by people who actually play with the mod. We do not accept payment for positive reviews, and advertising or partnerships never influence our ratings. When we make a mistake, we correct it quickly and note the change. If you spot an error, please let us know through our contact page.
Ratings on this site are editorial scores based on features, stability, performance, update speed and ease of use. They are our opinion, and we encourage you to try alternatives and decide for yourself.

Minimap Mod is an independent website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Mojang Studios, Microsoft or the developer of Xaero's mods. Xaero's Minimap and Xaero's World Map are the work of their developer, and all related trademarks belong to their respective owners. We never host, modify or repackage the mod files.
