Xaero's Minimap vs World Map

Xaero's Minimap and Xaero's World Map do different jobs. Learn what each mod does, how they share waypoints and whether you should install both.
Two Mods, One Toolkit
Minimap Mod (Xaero's Minimap) and Xaero's World Map are separate downloads from the same developer. The minimap is a small live overlay for moment-to-moment navigation. The world map is a full-screen, zoomable view of every area you have explored.
What the Minimap Does Best
- Shows your immediate surroundings without pausing the game.
- Displays nearby mobs and players with the entity radar.
- Switches to cave mode underground.
- Holds your waypoints, coordinates and biome name.

What the World Map Adds
The world map is for planning. Open it with a key, zoom out to see your whole explored world, then set waypoints by clicking anywhere. It keeps a cache of everything you have seen, so you can plan a route to a village you passed hours ago.
Should You Install Both?
For survival and exploration, yes. They share waypoints, use the same visual style and cost little in performance together. If you only want a light HUD for building or minigames, the minimap alone is enough.
For multiplayer, check server rules first. Some servers allow the world map but restrict cave mode on the minimap.
